THE FOX FROM HIS LAIR

By

Publisher: Morrow

This bland blend, a little peachbloom romance, a few vistas (Portugal-England), and a touch of mystery, tells about Anabelle Baird, who is supposed to marry Philip Ancell (a petulant type) when a stay in Portugal with her five and four year old nephews disrupts the engagement. Anabelle has a way with children, and this is recognized by a dying old man who then wishes his grandson on her, Portuguese Luis, whom she takes back to England without really knowing just why or who is he. Then there's Angus Pemberton who lives next door, who victimized her childhood, jeopardized his inheritance (a domineering grandmother), and now helps her to straighten out Luis' future and hers... A tea table entertainment-- it's not hard to read the leaves, or, for that matter, turn the pages.
