Despite an exciting pattern of events, the fabric of this story gives way at the seams. Estrella Maria, daughter of a Spanish noble, is delighted when her father is appointed Viceroy of New Spain. En route to Mexico, she is captured by Indians in Puerto Rico. Here the superstructure of coincidence is too heavy, for Estrella finds another child, Cicily, whose appearance is identical with her own, also captured by the tribe. Rescuers looking for Cicily take Estrella back to Cicily's parents, who mistake her for their daughter. The rest is soap opera and schmalz.
