THE PEACEABLE KINGDOM

Three stories of animals and devotion make up this poetic trilogy for young children: the story of the animals in the ark; an account of the animal's devotion to the Christ child; and a fantasy in which a child plays happily with the wild beasts who have become sublimely tame. The author, whose fluid sense of words and rhythm have established her as a popular poet is ably supported by Fritz Eichenberg whose illustrations are appropriately simple and tender. An appealing addition to the nursery library.
