THE LITTLE HAYMAKERS

A Maine farm story, in which an 8-year old proves how much a part of the farm a small boy can be. Terry is given the responsibility of two bull calves that are to be trained to work together as a team. The farm is an ordinary small farm where Nature's vagaries can mean the difference between plenty and privation. Terry plays his part like a grown-up, and his oxen learn control so well that in the third summer they save the life of Terry's little sister, as he directs them to do things he could not do. A good story, with nice country life feel.
