MAINE WAYS

Bits and pieces about Maine and the Henry Bestons' place in Maine- a delightful potpourri of legend, folk material in the making, reflective pieces, echoes of a beloved way of life, bits about neighbors, villagers, local customs, interests and activities. Some of the chapters are very short-some philosophical, meditative. All give a picture, now here, now there, which adds up to a rounded sense of knowing the Bestons (Elizabeth Coatsworth's husband is a writer, too -- as no doubt you know) -- of sharing their way of life- of becoming impregnated with the feel of Maine, country and shore. Definitely a book for largely a regional market.
