KIRKUS REVIEW

Not exceptional, but a good story in simple vocabulary with lots of pictures, planned for the beginning reader. Again a dancing pig, this time as part of a little family that goes down the Ohio and the Mississippi on a flat boat, and seeks a new home on newly opened frontiers. Americana -- for little folks. The pictures are somewhat wooden, but have the feel of the period.
