Full value here for strictly feminine readers -- chiefly rental. A woman's novel, with proficient entertainment provided by the literary and amatory career of Cassandra, and her two most satisfactory relationships, to father and son. Cassandra, with two books published, and an abortive end to an unhappy love affair, comes to New York at the death of her father. She makes a success of her writing -- but she picks a wrong man for the second time, and marries selfish Paul who walks out on her when she gets pregnant. Then follow a succession of friends -- increasing literary success -- and finally an involvement with her editor, who wants to get a divorce and marry her. She stalls him off, not wanting marriage, until, her son, old enough to fight, encourages her to settle down and marry for companionship a Philadelphia banker-collector.
