Not without considerable sentimental stress, emotional strain, this portrays Nora Lancaster through the years and in emergencies, as watched over and loved by Francis Baring, doctor, and Douglas Lowry, minister. Against the background of Philadelphia in the 1900's, Nora is seen as Dr. Baring attends the premature birth of her fifth child, again saves that child's life in a diphtheria epidemic, later the mother when he prevents her from bearing another child; as Lowry forestalls her eldest child's elopement; and as both men not only protect her through these crises but ease her way through the chronic worry over her husband, his faithlessness, his bravado, and eventually his desertion... A rather agonized affair- this- which is only for women, but not widely.
