KIRKUS REVIEW

Rare book and manuscript connoisseur, Gamadge, nets himself another killer and a wife when he is induced into the affairs of a New York fine old family. A governess had disappeared 100 years previously with Vol. II of a set of Byron; an English refugee appears with the missing book. Gamadge traces the book, intercepts the fraud, but is unable to prevent two killings. All around good going for the reader.
