KIRKUS REVIEW

Berry Hill is a handful of houses in one of those small communities outside New York Miss Fenwick seems to know so well, and the appearance of a prowler which troubles Maggie Leavis, one of its stablest citizens, is confirmed by others and finally attended by murder. One of the several virtues here is the progressively unnerving displacement and disruption of all the homes on Berry Hill--some desperate domestic hours splitting seconds all the way.
