KIRKUS REVIEW

What a sight for the native Indians to see Henry Hudson's Half Moon quietly and steadily sailing up the great river! Young Deer was one of the youths to be thrilled to be core. He made friends with the white boy that they nick-named Sun Cap, went all over the miraculous boat and was accorded the great privilege of going back to Holland with the whites. This story is based on historical fact and includes the exciting episode of the boy's capture by the hostile Mohawks and his subsequent hair-raising escape. New York shops should watch this particularly, our boys should know more about early life on our important waterway.
