THE GOLDEN SKYLARK by Elizabeth Goudge

THE GOLDEN SKYLARK

By

Pub Date: June 16th, 1941
Publisher: Coward, McCann

A charming collection of short stories in Elizabeth Goudge's best vein. Some have a touch of fantasy, skillfully blended with realism; others tap a rich historical background, linked with famous names (Percy Shelley; Shakespeare's dark lady; Henry the Eighth and the young Elizabeth; Sir Thomas Moore and his lovely daughter). The settings are somewhat varied, though the Channel Islands, and the unpredictable du Frocq family, come in again and again. There are children in almost every tale -- and Miss Goudge has a sure touch with children. Here are no problem stories, but a sheaf of lovely tales that carry one away from today's headlines.
