THE GARNERED SHEAVES

Warmth and good family feeling in this story of a Quaker daughter who becomes a minister. The setting is a Quaker community in Illinois in the 1870's, through several generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, up to the first World War. As the Quaker dedicated to the ministry before her birth, dedicated by her father, Sibyl Rees is a very convincing and interesting figure. Her doubts and frustrations as to her fitness, the problems she faces with herself, her family and her relatives, the full, rich family life she lives -- all weave a fine pattern to make unusual and rewarding reading.
