KIRKUS REVIEW

Rather hackneyed situation as a starter, as Jo faces disappointment with the collapse of the family's finances and her father's illness, knows college is out that Fall, and looks around for a Summer job. She opens a boarding kennel for dogs in some old runs behind her home. She faces and solves- with help of a boy who is working at the drug store- the many problems that confront her- and wins through to new maturity. Elizabeth Headley has done better books, but her audience is not too critical, and this is a competent enough- though undistinguished- tale.
