In chronological sequence, some of the stories of the Old Testament are retold, reverently and simply, yet reading like good adventure stories of real people of history. It starts with Abraham as a boy in the old city of Ur- of the decision to go forth and seek a new land -- of Abraham's fidelity to his belief in One God, of how he become leader of his people and settled their disputes. Then comes the story of Abraham's son Isaac, of his marriage to Rebekkah, and of their twin sons, Esau and Jacob, and the trick played on the aging Isaac. Jacob goes away, but eventually comes back with his new family to receive the blessing of his father... Stories from the book of Genesis, which give the feel of the beginnings of things.
