THE SPY AT TORY HOLE

A short but slow-moving Revolutionary War story based on fact, in which nothing happens until the very end except that fourteen-year-old Seth's cousin Jason comes to stay at the New Hampshire farm from which Seth's two older brothers have already gone off to war and gotten killed. Bits of war news are worked into the record of family routines, and at last the two boys come upon a pair of Tory spies who, with the help of Seth's father and other patriots, are captured and brought to trial. Dead earnest, with no conceivable audience outside of Tory Hole.
