KIRKUS REVIEW

Another slight mystery by the author of Mystery of the Diamond Necklace (1954, 387) creates its situation from a stranger's request for an old French doll in Jon and Day's grandmother's doll repair shop. On a visit to their Gram's from California, he twins Jon and Judy are delighted with new surroundings in an eastern city, then excited the developing mystery. As one clue leads to another, the stranger is discovered to be man whose past jail sentence brought him into contact with still another thief- whose story of sapphires from Ceylon led him on his present search. Then, on examination, Gram and the twins find that the sapphires have been inserted as the doll's eyes. Junior deting of the more incredible sort.
