KIRKUS REVIEW

I like this tale of a Mexican village where the establishment of their first school was to be celebrated by a fiesta when every child learned to read. Pedro, whose ambition was to be a bull-fighter and not a scholar, alone spoiled the record, and the whole community cooperated to bring him into line. An original tale.
