A FOX NAMED RUFUS

A marauding fox kills one of eleven-year-old Mary's ducks and the Maine farm girl vows revenge. But when the fox returns his visit to Mary's farm, he becomes her guest on a temporary basis. Torn by her desire to keep him as a curiosity and to sell him for money, Mary agonizes over her problem, but finally relinquishes him to the wild life for which he best is suited. An engrossing story which derives its interest from the straight-forward portrayal of the animal and human characters involved.
