This is one of Elizabeth Linington's multiplotted dossiers in which L.A.'s Sergeant Maddox circularly pursues the disappearance-demises of a young man, a middle-aged doctor, a medium and a housewife along with the wayward activities of some LSDemons. . . . It proceeds procedurally but mechanically in that groove which by this time is the equivalent of a rut.
