ELLEN SPRING by Elizabeth Marion

Somewhat more substantial a story than Elizabeth Marion's first book, The Day Will Come, though that, too had a sympathetic, sensitive quality. Once again this is a woman's book, done with simplicity, understanding, a certain fundamental honesty. Ellen Spring goes back to the run-down homestead (near Spokane), which she has inherited, and thus escapes a husband she had learned to loathe. Much of her bitterness and discontent and fear are lost as the remaking of home and garden bring her back to basic values and real people. Sales some- rentals rather. Nice-ish quality.
