Having a wonderful time in music, by a layman, for laymen interested in amateur and professional music, in light though serious vein. The author tells of her early, incorrect training, her too-too orthodox music instruction and the gradual breakdown of bad habits of performance and taste. From a music loving family in Chicago, she comes east to Greenwich, as wife of Charles E. Mitchell, and pursues her own musical interests, while he forges ahead in the banking world. More musical education for herself, children's symphonies, Governing Board N. Y. Philharmonic, etc. The various quagmires her ""piano lessons"" led her into, her harsh disillusionment, plenty of musical topbill anecdotes, famous names and musical world tidbits. Occasional moments when a certain sort of snobbishness creeps in do not rob this of a definite appeal to that increasingly aware ""music in the home"" audience.
