TURN AROUND TWICE

An island off the coast of Maine provides this story with its at once romantic and mysterious setting. Sixteen year old Bun Wilder, her two brothers and sister (aged 15, 13, and 11) spend three and a half days on the island she won as first prize in an essay contest. Their nights are plagued by a caller trying to frighten them off the island. A storm turns up the son of a famous painter and former resident of the island whose hidden works are sought by scheming adults. All ends happily. Bun finds romance; the boy, his father's paintings; the family, a new and exciting way of life. Miss Ogilvie's familiarity with New England gives the book an authentic flavor. The writing is tight, topical, and enjoyable. Her teen-agers are not over drawn, not cloying, completely believable. A good book. Of special interest to girls in the middle teens.
