KIRKUS REVIEW

This is better than its predecessor, The Big Fire, in that the text is consistent to the interest level (where the other book was really too old and needed adult interpretation). Seven and eight year olds, with endless questions about trains, will enjoy this direct and simple history of railroads; and slightly older children can read it for themselves. A sturdy clothbound book.
