This is put under the Read Aloud section, because I think it is a book that should be presented to small readers by a sympathetic adult. It is an episodic story, with the flavor of might-be-true, which tells of the activities of a Bohemian family who have left the old country to come to the new, of the things they do together to preserve the traditions, of a busy, happy household. But the vagueness of period (I should think a generation ago) -- of the place (is it America?) plus the difficult names might make it hard sledding for readers of the age of the children in the story.
