HOBO HILL

The short story of how the boys in a town near Portland, Oregon were eventually given their playground hill by the authorities who had planned to build a road over it has the lyrical qualities that magnify its slender theme. Distressed at the news, Gene, Hal, Toughy and the others- a pretty bright and winning bunch- try to persuade the owner not to sell. Their efforts and dreams are rewarded when one of the surveyors visits them on the Hill as a hobo in disguise, makes friends with them and in his turn, performs the miracle that makes the Hill the boys' own.
