La Rochefoucauld might have been describing today's juvenile book scene when he remarked that nothing is given so profusely as advice. The Morrisons' approach is to compile a variety of cautionary examples to show how repressed or displaced anger can lead to accidents or vandalism; depression can lead to obesity, drugs, even suicide; rivalry to underachievement, etc. Because they learn to talk out their anger, or because the proper authorities step in and improve their situations, all but the suicide ends relatively happily--as does the book with its assurance that ""you can make it."" As for coverage, the Morrisons leave sex education to ""modern school courses"" and their level of discourse and analysis seems geared to readers younger than the teenagers cited in the scenarios. And, like most such dispensers of wide spectrum counsel, they make the solutions easier than most of us find them. Can they help how you feel? Unlikely.
