INSIDE YOU AND ME

The concept of skeletons as things ""scary"" in association with Halloween is early dispelled in this amusingly rhymed introduction to the human body. The many jobs the skeleton performs in a child's daily life is emphasized and the general functions and placement of prime internal organs are mentioned. The illustrations by Lee Smith exuberantly portray children engaged in their daily activities made possible by a particular aspect of human anatomy. Although many of these are humorous and instructive, some border on the bizarre and gruesome and add a startling note of incongruity to an otherwise admirable text.
