Innocuously on the adolescent side, this stage-struck tale carries Polly Roberts from Indiana to New York and on to Maine for her chance in the theater. Through newspaperman Peter, who has written a play, she is accepted by Marvin for his summer stock theater in Pete's home town in Maine and is encouraged by early season performances and work. The arrival of actor-director Mason and his casting makes Polly's dream come true for she gets two good leading parts- but is bad in them. It is through Pete's New York investigations and her own integrity that Maon's chicanery is unmasked and Pete's play salvaged for Broadway production. Dreams-come-true department.
