THE WIND IS IN THE WEST

Publisher: Macmillan

This story of a ranch family in Arizona and a sixteen-year-old ""dude"" will have more appeal as a family story than as a western. Although Ann Jeffries rides and attends rodeos with her father's friends, the Longs, the story is mostly concerned with Ann's efforts to win the friendship of the sullen Kayand her shy twin, Kim, both Ann's age. Also the Longs have money troubles, And Ann yearning for the family life that she has never had as the motherless daughter of a travelling engineer aids her in helping the family which has been so kind to her. Rather elementary in plot and characterizations for this age but pleasant enough.
