Pleasing lyrics, emotional rather than intellectual, along two main lines. First -- verses on the external world of nature, with an undercurrent of sympathy and pity. Second -- verses of deep religious feeling. She has a gift for original metaphor, with occasional conceits and loose rhyme patterns. But a nice quality all in all, characterized by simplicity, harmony and feeling.
