First of a new series of anthologies, most or all of whose contents will have appeared previously in Omni magazine. The current crop features an original story (1993) from Joyce Carol Oates; and several of the rest (1986-89) have also seen daylight in other story collections. The themes range from the Revolutionary War, love affairs, ghosts, pirates and lemurs, and nuclear war to species extinction, radio, disease, and mutable reality; the other authors include Marc Laidlaw, James P. Blaylock, William S. Burroughs, Howard Waldrop, Octavia E. Butler and Michael Swanwick.
