Big brother Danny can be a pain, but Oliver doesn't really mean to turn him into a frog with the magical stones that his friend Isabelle's great-grandfather, Mr. Will, gives him for his birthday! Fortunately, however, no one but Oliver and Isabelle notices the transformation—comprised only of a voice that croaks, a more-extraordinary-than usual propensity to hop, and a long flycatcher of a tongue. It's all rather easily resolved when Mr. Will explains how to undo the wish, but recovery does take place at a satisfyingly dramatic moment; meanwhile, Leroe's narrative hops right along, making good use of the comical situation. Enjoyable light fare. Illustrations not seen. (Fiction. 7-10)
