The long title of this first book from O'Shaughnessy--an author with ""a background in education for the developmentally disabled""--says it all: although Dad reminds the young narrator of his many real successes (friends, jobs well done), and though he's learned to keep his hurt a secret, it's still there. A brief but effective vignette, nicely visualized in Garner's simple, lyrically sketched illustrations.
