LITTLE GIRL'S GIFT

By

Publisher: Holt, Rinehart & Winston

Before Janis Babson contracts leukemia, a television program prompts her decision to leave her eyes to the eye bank- if she dies. A little later, in the third grade, she shows signs of the illness which is promptly diagnosed. During the next two years, she manifests an increasing awareness of death itself- and her own; an acceptance that it is ""God's will"". Finally, after considerable suffering, which perhaps led her to say ""I'm ready any time now"", comes her death. The fulfillment of her wish led many other Ottawans to will their eyes to the Eye Bank.... Another Angel Unaware, for just that audience.
