AMERICAN HISTORICAL VIEWS OF STAFFORDSHIRE CHINA by Ellouise Baker Larsen

AMERICAN HISTORICAL VIEWS OF STAFFORDSHIRE CHINA

By

Pub Date: Oct. 5th, 1950
Publisher: Doubleday

Published in 1939- now reissued and enlarged in view of research and discovery of new and vital material- this may well do more than supplement the standard work on the subject by Barber. With a total here of close to 800 photographs, and a detailed text, this provides not only a handbook for the collector, but makes a definite contribution to scholarship in indications of the significance of these historical views to the American scene. Artist- original engraver and publisher- details of borders and border designs- color, etc. all provide clues to identification. In choice of illustration, the author has taken-chiefly from her own collection- those she feels most attractive, along with some rarities. The names familiar to collectors are all represented, and brief biographical and bibliographical notes precede the descriptive captions. A brief chapter towards the end gives advice to collectors, and in an Addenda, an article on processes appears.
