Crime Club. The apprehensive atmosphere for the first person recitative of Dorothy, newly and uneasily the wife of Edward and stepmother of his children, Stephen and Emily. These two, poised and unnatural beyond their years, give no overt indications of their antagonism, and with nothing to go on save her own doubts and fears, Dorothy is near death before the intent to kill is substantiated... Momentarily unnerving rather than retrospectively satisfying.
