THE LORD'S SUPPER IN PROTESTANTISM

This volume constitutes the plan of a devout, yet liberal cleric of free Protestant connections for a wide spread spiritual enrichment and more effectual use of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper within non-anglican churches. It is a scholarly treatise, reaching into the historic facts and boldly exploring religious parallels in the pagan mysteries. The study becomes almost wistful as it reviews the difficulties placed in the way of Christian Reunion, where the Lord's Supper may be either bridge or barrier. It expresses the longing of a minister not in the factual apostolic succession for full recognition as celebrant of this spiritual dynamic of the Lord's Supper, asking for a ""full faith and credit"" clause in ecumenical Christianity. There is much carefully selected liturgical material and instruction for celebration of the Lord's Supper in extra church observance, which should be useful to the Protestant minister.
