YOU AND YOUR LEADERS

Although the statistical approach to the nine men chosen to represent the leaders in the years from 1936-56 is paramount in this book by the eminent public opinion poll expert, there is a great deal of factual data drawn from the statistics that makes provocative reading for anyone interested in the analysis of our changing attitudes to persons and issues. Here are appraised the shifting forces of public opinion as viewed in the pattern relating to Franklin D. Roosevelt, Wendell Willkie, Thomas, Dewey, Harry Truman, Douglas MacArthur, George C. Marshall, Robert Taft, Adlai Stevenson and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Through this study, the high points of our nation's history are stressed as responsible factors; the personalities, attributes, contributions, of the men emerge; the long term view takes precedence over the short term more in Elmo Roper's personal comments than in the polls' results; the reasons for the results emerge as of more interest than the outcome. An interesting challenge to one's own attitudes.
