BEYOND THE NIGHT

Publisher: Scribner

By the rector of St. George's P.E. Church of New York, this reflects the keen insight into the spiritual needs of individuals and the broad human interests of that church and its rector. Dr. McKee is an avowed pacifist, but it is not as a pacifist that he writes but as a discerning Christian leader alive to the problems of his people and sure of the adequacy of his gospel to meet them. These are not sermons, although there is much homilectic material in them. The book has grown out of the experience and the privilege of trying to meet the needs of the individual, as those needs have become greater under the strain of war. It deals with victory over disillusionment, victory over indecision, victory over separation, victory over abandonment, victory over futility, over evil and over death. An appropriate book to give to any person who is bewildered and distressed by the circumstances of the war.
