KIRKUS REVIEW

A hard headed teenager with an aversion to rules and a burning curiosity about the underwater world school in order to devote all his time to skin diving. As a member of the SCUA club the summer, Fins Harper is given training in many aspects of diving as well as his first opportunity to dive in the ocean. Under the direction of New Browning, Fins develops his skill and through his friendship with another boy accomplishes some important dives. But responsibility eventually catches up. In his clash with rules, Fins is suspended from the club, and in his clash with the world of specialization, he finds out that better diving jobs go to better educated young men. Water logged male readers will enjoy sharing Fins' adventures in the briny as well as benefit from the lesson he learns. He man stuff with no literary pretensions.
