A thorough and careful study of Mexico -- a bit too tight-packed for casual reading perhaps also too stationary, but generally fair-minded and reliable. Latest in a long series, this book covers most of the questions the average young person or traveller would like to know about Mexico -- its geography, ancestry of the people, its history in relation to the United States, its internal history, its cities, art, customs and a general picture of modern Mexico. Although the whole structure could do with a shaking up -- and more vital prose, and the author's bland acceptance of the popular manana cult is too touristy for our taste, there is no doubt that the information is sound and complete.
