Amandus was too big. His brothers and sisters told him so. So, puppy though he was, he tried to walk like a duck, to roost like a chicken, to shrink -- all in vain. But John Henry was big for his age, so he liked Amandus, and life looked brighter, especially after John Henry's mother approved.
