KIRKUS REVIEW

Merry Hippo is the headquarters of the Connor Commission. It has been formed (malformed) in London and sent out to dizziest Hapana, an African state on the verge of independence. The characters on the committee, both British and native, could prove the collapse of the committee system. They are joined by a pink American; a further companion is murder. There are so many incidents at Merry Hippo that the reader, even treated with hearty, heavy doses of satire, can easily succumb to sleeping sickness.
