THE SILVER BRUMBY

Thowra, a startlingly beautiful Palomino, grows up the acknowledged leader of his herd of wild horses. Roaming freely over the Australian bush, there is no horse his equal. Men, cognizant of his value, hunt him obsessively, using his beautiful mare, Golden, as a means to ensnare him. Partially domesticated, she is stolen from her captors by Thowra and initiated into the laws of the bush. The story of Thowra's ultimate victory, a victory so dramatic that he becomes legendary to the men of the bush, is told here with all the sweep and exhilaration of the Australian landscape, though the animals lose a certain potency by being given human words and thoughts to mouth.
