This is exactly the kind of vocational guidance text book we used to suffer from in our high school days. It combines all of the worst features of those deadly books: full of cliches, copy-book maxims on how to succeed, self-tests for character traits, stuff about ""habits of integrity"", preachments on doing good for mankind, and dull, repetitive writing. With superb books like the Lingenfelter Vocations for Girls and Vocations for Boys, and her new Wartime Jobs for Girls. why do we have to go back to the dark ages in vocational writing? Incidentally, the war doesn't seem to have caught up with the authors of this book -- no mention of it and its effect on the work of the world!
