FOLLOW THE HONEY BIRD

Ori is a Masai boy with a taste for honey; he raises a ratel (honey badger) with the same preference. Following the honey guide bird to hives is unsuccessful until the crucial moment when the pet ratel, Chuuli, has gotten into the boma (compound) Christening wine and the honeycomb must be replaced. Tribal customs appear in obvious exposition, never amounting to a true taste of life; the story is slight and inconclusive.
