A CONFLICT OF WOMEN

Pantry dialogue with most of the foaming action taking place between British women of middling degree -- the lawyer Stephen's wife Anna, matronly Lisa, and young actress Natalie who's after Stephen. Stephen is in the midst of a difficult defense -- his client, a Yorkshire-Sicilian woman, whose Magnani proportions only the upper classes seem to appreciate, is accused of strangling her husband's village girlfriend. Stephen's successful brief, based on the sanctity of marriage and women's loyalty, has a close personal application, and Natalie is booted in favor of home, hearth, and Anna. Tea-and-bun time dearie.
