KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of the Kristie stories- Kristie's Buttercup, Kristie Goes to the Fair, etc. Minnesota farm stories- switches her setting to a youngster's first interest in ballet. But in the change there is still the good ear for conversation and the quick sense of family humor that are the familiar Emma Brock style. For Mary, ungraceful as she is, turns over a new leaf with her new craze for the dance, amazes the people at home and at class, and wins the chief role for herself in a pantomime.
