Beat the Market is subtitled A Scientific Stock Market System and aptly so as it is co-authored by a mathematician and an economist. The former has already invented a system to beat Blackjack. The book is based on the short sale of a company's warrants and purchase of its common stock as a hedge. Full of charts, tables and samples, this book is for the scientifically minded speculator with a willing broker. The authors claim an average yearly profit potential of 25% which is not quite our guess on books of this kind, although this has a lot to say to the sophisticated investor.
